Simply put, if you want to recruit lords, do so before conquering their kingdom’s land. The recent e1.0.5 patch made it considerably harder to recruit enemy lords for the players who’ve previously captured settlements from the enemy’s territory. You increase your influence, territory, and allies, whilst not fighting at all. I think recruiting enemy lords is a great strategic move. For the ones playing the realistic version like me, you won’t get to do that, so RIP. That way, if the conversation doesn’t end well, you can just reload the game and start over. Pro tip: Always save the game before trying your luck recruiting an enemy lord. Instead, if you let them go, their relationship with you will increase a lot. Capturing them will forever remove the option to recruit them. Keep in mind that you cannot ever recruit lords you’ve captured in battle. If you are already on good terms with a certain lord, then it will be much easier to recruit them. It is really important for you to level up your Charm skills. Each answer will have a degree of success, and that probability is based on your own personal skills and traits.
Your mission is to make sure you say the right thing to the right lord. Once you’ve done that, you will be asked 4 different questions with multiple answer choices for each one. All you have to do is reach out to a clan leader and tell them that their faction’s ruler is not worthy of their loyalty and attention. Recruiting enemy lords is quite an easy process, but not always a successful one. Heck, their entire clan will join your kingdom. You will be expanding your territory without losing troops in the process. If you are smart, then you should search that lovely Encyclopedia (N) of yours and find out which enemy lords hold more settlements, and recruit them. Enemy lords that you recruit will bring all their settlements along with them. Plus, they will become very loyal to you and aid their new ruler. If you successfully recruit a lord who belongs to a hostile kingdom, then you will have one less enemy on the field. Recruiting enemy lords has two big upsides, namely:
